Beginner walkthrough

Your first seven nights

A practical opening plan: what to do first, what can wait, when to sleep and which unlocks matter. Use it as a route—not as a lecture.
Launch-week practical guideConcrete steps are cross-checked against current gameplay coverage; patch-sensitive values are dated.

Opening plan

What each part of the first week is for

Night 1

Unlock the game loop

Wake Orlock, meet Victor, plant Blood Grapes, register at Town Hall, receive Chester, sell safe forage and sleep. Use the exact illustrated route.

Nights 2–4

Water, explore and trigger scenes

Water the grapes first. Follow exclamation marks and sparkling building icons on the map, talk to residents already on your route, dig glowing soil swirls and sell flowers or shells through Chester.

Around Night 5

Protect the first harvest

Blood Grapes take five watered nights and then regrow every four nights. Keep the first harvest for Orlock's wine route instead of selling it raw.

When machines appear

Place the keg, refiner and furnace

The keg handles wine and juice; the refiner makes planks, refined stone and fodder; the furnace makes charcoal, bars and glass. These unlock progression, so keep their raw materials.

When the quest log waits

Sleep instead of inventing busywork

Several early objectives require crop growth, mail or another night. A short night is efficient when you have watered, used Chester and checked active markers.

Every-night order

Use this priority list

Water active quest crops

Story crops first; decorative expansion later.

Check quest log and map markers

Exclamation marks and sparkling buildings indicate scenes that can unblock tools, areas or relationships.

Do one route objective

Choose one shop, quest location or resident cluster rather than zigzagging across the entire map.

Forage on the way back

Flowers, shells and visible dig spots are low-cost value when they are on your path.

Use Chester and sleep

Queue the sale, end the night and let mail, money, crops and events advance.

When stuck

Use the symptom, not guesswork

Five real habits

What experienced players do differently

They keep wood and stone

Early processors and construction consume them faster than a small Chester sale is worth.

They sell along a route

Forage collected while traveling is efficient; a special trip for one flower is not.

They let time advance

When crops, mail or tomorrow's scene are the blocker, sleeping is the correct action.
