How to plant your first patch

Choose a compact area near home

Clear only enough space for the seeds you own. A close field saves travel every night.

Dig with the shovel

Moonlight Peaks uses the shovel to make planting holes. Open the tool wheel with the right shoulder button on controller.

Plant from inventory

Select the seed bag and choose Plant. Repeat for each prepared hole.

Water every night

Normal crops need water unless it rains. Refill the can from the water left of the house until a well is available.

Magic crops

Aquaflux has two limits

What changes

Magic seeds become available after Luna's magic quest chain.
They require Aquaflux; ordinary watering and normal rain do not replace the spell.
Aquaflux consumes mana and water from the can.
Fill the can before casting or the spell stops even when mana remains.
The spell may water normal crops in its path, so position yourself to avoid wasting limited mana.

Do not plant a huge magical field immediately. Early mana is limited and recovers slowly. Expand only after you can reliably water the full plot.

Machines and layout

Build around the next unlock

Keg

Turns fruit into wine, beer or juice and is needed for Orlock's Blood Grape wine objective.

Refiner

Turns wood into planks, stone into refined stone and fibre into fodder.

Furnace

Turns wood into charcoal and ore into bars; it can also make glass.

Scarecrow placement

It protects a limited area. Place it where its shown range covers the most crop tiles.

Herb garden access

Do not pack gardens tightly side by side; leave enough room to reach all four planting spots.
